Lainie and Rod used to work together, and were friends and confidantes. She helped him get through an ugly divorce, and developed a crush on him. Then the sky fell when the company moved to the West Coast and Lainie lost her job while Rod moved with the company. They went on a single date just before they parted, and their one kiss left Lainie wondering what might have been.
Five years later, out of the blue, Rod calls and asks her to meet him on Mackinac Island for a weekend getaway. Lainie is afraid of flying and waffles at first, but finally agrees. They make flight plans and book a quaint bed and breakfast on the island. When the big day arrives, Lainie embarks on the trip from Hell. Flight delays, missing crews – what else could possibly go wrong? Will they ever make it to Mackinac Island, and will they finally consummate their relationship?
